P600-K seized in drug bust

TAGBILARAN CITY — More than P600,000 worth of suspected illegal drugs were seized as by the Bohol Police Provincial Office as it conducted a four-day Simultaneo­us Enhanced Managed Police Operation (SEMPO) from 13-16 August.

The operation, which is the first in the incumbency of Tagbilaran’s new police provincial director, was able to yield suspected illegal drugs with a Dangerous Drugs Board value of P627,572 and an estimated weight pegged at 92.29 grams, according to a report provided to the Daily Tribune yesterday.

There were 31 arrested drug suspects while one suspect remains at large. Five suspects were arrested by the police caught red-handed using alleged illegal drugs and one suspect was arrested after a lawful arrest.

The same report said there were 37 total suspects arrested in the four-day conduct of the SEMPO, which includes three high-level targets in the municipal level. About 21 street level targets were arrested and 13 newly-identified drug suspects were arrested in the four-day police operation.

In Meycauayan, Bulacan, three drug dealers were killed while six more were arrested during separate buy-bust operations made by the Bulacan Police on Saturday.

Suspects Harold Sunpongco, Alfie Garcia and Julius Ace Lavarro were killed during the operations, while Aridel del Rosario, Marvie Labong, Joan Ralo, Jennifer Francisco, Jack Contante and Rafael Guerrero were arrested.

According to Bulacan Police Director Col. Chito Bersaluna, the three fatalities were neutralize­d in separate buy-bust operations after opening fire against the authoritie­s.

A total of 18 plastic sachets of shabu, assorted drug parapherna­lia, and buy-bust money were confiscate­d from the suspects during the operations.

The arrested suspects and confiscate­d pieces of evidence were brought to Bulacan Provincial Crime Laboratory Office for appropriat­e examinatio­n while criminal complaints for violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehens­ive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) are being readied for filing against them in court.
