Batang Pinoy gets under way
A total of 10,000 delegates are set to troop to Puerto Princesa City to vie in the 2019 Batang Pinoy National Championships from 25 to 31 August.
The Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) said it is leaving no stone unturned in turning this prestigious grassroots sports program into a massive success.
“The PSC is ready for the growing number of delegates who will take part of the games,” national secretariat head Manny Vitog said.
Vitog said 31 sports, including centerpiece athletics and swimming as well as popular team sports like basketball, volleyball and football, would be staged in a bid to find potential members of the national team.
Vitog said national secretariat senior member Teresito Fortaleza is already spearheading the conduct of the final ocular inspection for both competition and non-competition venues.
Already identified as billeting areas to accommodate delegates from 234 local government units are Sta. Monica Elementary School, Sta. Monica High School, F. Ubay Memorial Elementary School, Manuel Austria Elementary School, Sicsican Elementary School, Sicsican High School, Puerto Princesa Science High School, Palawan National School, Puerto Princesa Pilot Elementary School and San Jose National High School.
Six other billeting areas will be prepared to accommodate the additional needs of participants.
The PSC would cap the festivities with a Children’s Fun Run in the morning of 31 August with around 8,00 kids tipped to participate.
