Miranda, NLEX reunite

- By Miguel La Torre

Big man Michael Miranda is making a reroute to NLEX.

Road Warriors management confirmed yesterday that Miranda is returning to their fold in a trade with NorthPort.

“It so happened that Mike was available. Since Mike came from our team before and knows my system, he became a natural consideration,” NLEX head coach Yeng Guiao said.

Miranda was part of the three-team deal that involved NLEX, TNT KaTropa and Blackwater prior the start of the current season.

Miranda was dealt to KaTropa Poy Erram who was shipped to the Road Warriors while the Elite acquired draft picks Paul Desiderio and Abu Tratter.

TNT then traded Miranda to Batang Pier as part of the Jericho Cruz deal to NLEX during the mid-season.

But the Road Warriors lost back-up guard Juami Tiongson in the deal to re-acquire Miranda.

“We did not want to give up Juami but NorthPort insisted that he be the one included in the deal. We offered our second round picks but they insisted on Juami,” Guiao said.

“The mere fact that they insisted that he (Tiongson) be part of the trades proves how much he has grown. We’re happy to have been part of his improvement and his development in his career,” he added.
