Lim back on bench

- By John Eric Mendoza

After serving an “indefinite leave,” Frankie Lim would be back on the bench when University of Perpetual Help System Dalta battles San Sebastian College on Friday in Season 95 of the National Collegiate Athletic Association men’s basketball tournament.

Perpetual’s athletic director Sammy Acaylar said their relationship with Lim is now back to normal and the former Philippine Basketball Association star would be allowed to finish the season.

Lim, who led San Beda College to numerous titles in the past decade, was placed on leave following a humiliating 56-102 drubbing of the Red Lions last week.

Coach Frankie’s relationship with Perpetual is now back to normal.

His assistant coach Myk Saguitsit took the cudgels and plotted the plays in the Altas’ thrilling 88-87 win over Emilio Aguinaldo College last Tuesday.

But Acaylar said they have already ironed out the kinks with the prolific mentor.

“Coach Frankie’s relationship with Perpetual is now back to normal. We have to move on from that episode and set our sights on winning the title,” Acaylar told Daily Tribune in a telephone conversation.

Acaylar maintained that they have no idea behind the reason of Lim’s leave of absence.

“It’s between coach Frankie and the management,” Acaylar said.

“Coach Frankie is a very good coach, somebody who can lead us to the title. But we are just following what they management told us, which is to place him on leave. We’re glad that he has been reinstated.”
