TESDA offers employment for tech-voc grads
Our commitment at TESDA is not only to provide quality training but to help ensure that this will result in gainful employment or livelihood for our graduates
An estimated 17,000 technical-vocational (tech-voc) graduates are being targeted by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) for employment opportunities in a series of job fairs at the World Café of Opportunities (WCO) 2019.
In celebration of TESDA’s 25th founding anniversary and the Second National Tech-Voc Day, the WCO is being held simultaneously in 54 sites in the 17 regions of the Philippines until 29 August.
“TESDA’s World Café of Opportunities brings together our tech-voc graduates and those interested in taking tech-voc courses with industry partners and tech-voc providers,” said TESDA Secretary Isidro Lapeña.
Lapeña explained the WCO encourages interested individuals to avail of the scholarship programs offered by the agency
Tech-voc graduates will be also able to avail of skills upgrading interventions and preemployment guidance services, in addition to exploring wage or self-employment opportunities.
They can access up-to-date labor market information, entrepreneurship training, available technology, and financial assistance for business startups provided by participating national government agencies.
Boosting the employment of graduates is expected, as well as creating better job-skills matching, training and financing opportunities.
In support of the administration’s “Build, Build, Build” program, all TESDA regional offices have invited companies from the construction sector, in addition to the participating firms and organizations from other sectors this year.
“Our commitment at TESDA is not only to provide quality training but to help ensure that this will result in gainful employment or livelihood for our graduates. With our industry and training partners, this can be achieved,” Lapeña added.
The WCO also serves as a platform for tech-voc industries and private companies to expand their network, and forge partnerships for the conduct of dual training systems and supervised industry training.
