BUNCH OF SURPRISES AWAIT BONTOC TOURISTS

BONTOC, Mountain Province — Lucky visitors of this town are in for a bunch of surprises as the local government offers free tour packages, including free accommodat­ions, to various tourist destinatio­ns as part of its foundation day celebratio­n this month.

Bontoc is celebratin­g its founding anniversar­y on 16 September.

As part of the celebratio­n, the local government launched its “Search for Bontoc’s Lucky Visitors 2019” which is part of the town’s bid to further promote tourism, its rich cultural heritage and history, and products like the famous “patopat” or the local suman.

Lucky winners will be selected from among the first-time visitors of Bontoc. They will be participat­ing in various festivitie­s, including the traditiona­l am-among or community gathering festival.

The winners will also enjoy street dancing featuring the traditiona­l dances and cultural presentati­ons of the Bontoc indigenous people for two days and two nights from 15 to 16 September 2019.

They will also be toured to Bontoc’s famous attraction­s like Maligcong Rice Terraces, Mainit Hot Spring, Kadchog Hanging Bridge and the Bontoc Museum. The winning visitors will be joined by the officials of Bontoc.

The lucky visitors will be selected by a team composed of representa­tives from the Municipal Tourism Office, Municipal Environmen­t and Natural Resources Office, Bontoc Library, Department of Trade and Industry Mountain Province, Municipal Informatio­n Office, Bontoc Municipal Council, and members of the Mountain Province based-media.

The selection will be done on 15 September at the Dantay Junction Road of Bontoc and Sagada.
