Go to CoA: Audit PhilHealth
Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go sought the assistance of the Commission on Audit (CoA) to look into the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation’s (PhilHealth) books through a special audit in the wake of the controversies regarding its alleged misuse of funds.
Speaking during the joint public hearing of the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee and Committee on Health & Demography, Go advised CoA chairman Michael Aguinaldo to conduct a special audit and submit the findings to the Ombudsman to find out the causes of the anomalies surrounding PhilHealth.
“This is not new. This is not the first time that the PhilHealth has been involved. If they were able to get away from it before, it will not happen anymore. We will make sure that the ones liable will be held liable,” Go said.
Aside from the CoA, Go also directed the Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission and National Bureau of Investigation to conduct investigations with PhilHealth and give decisive conclusions, and advised the Department of Justice to file cases against those who are responsible.
“Before, when investigations were being done, nothing happened. There are no results because it only ends up with finger-pointing. The people have had enough, and even the President is exasperated with corruption in different government offices,” Go stressed.
“File cases against those who are liable. No one is above the law,” he added.
