Authorities are still on the process of figuring out the cause of its death. A melon-headed whale has also been stranded in the same bay last 9 August but it died a week after it was rescued.

According to the responders, the said marine mammal was physically unstable and has wounds on its dorsal fin and tail fluke when it was found.

The whale was brought to the Ormoc City Fisheries Office Rehabilitation Facility for proper care and rehabilitation where it died after a week.
