Kalinga now has condom vending machines

- By Aldwin Quitasol

BAGUIO CITY — The campaign on safe and responsible sex have gone a tad further.

To curb the rising cases of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and the Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS, the Department of Health Cordillera has installed three condom dispensers in the capital city of Tabuk of the province of Kalinga.

One was put up in the TB-DOTS center and the two others in the rural health centers of the city.

People of Kalinga will be able to avail of the condom at very cheap price. All they have to do is insert one peso coin in the machine and get one with flavor of their choice. The proceeds are intended for the maintenance of the machines.

Although some people say it is not a hundred percent assurance to protect people from being infected with HIV and AIDS, other sexually transmitted diseases and also unwanted pregnancies, many still adhere to it.
