DU30 leads Cebu groundbrea­king rites

It will be permanent shelter for the victims of the landslide that happened on 20 September 2018

President Rodrigo Duterte on Friday broke ground to start the constructi­on of 192 housing units for the landslide victims in the City of Naga, Cebu.

Housing and Urban Developmen­t Coordinati­ng Council (HUDCC) Secretary Eduardo del Rosario, said the Naga Permanent Housing Project is a joint undertakin­g among the National Housing Authority (NHA), Housing & Land Use Regulatory Board (HLURB) and the City of Naga, Cebu.

Duterte said the housing units will be completed within 408 calendars days or more than seven months. It will be permanent shelter for the victims of the landslide that happened on 20 September 2018.

Naga City Mayor Valdemar Chiong in a separate interview said over 440 families will benefit from the housing units.

For the 192 units alone, the NHA has alloted more than Php 120 million for land developmen­t and housing constructi­on.

These housing units are located in Barangays Inoburan and Tinaan in the city with more than 2.1 hectare Balili property as the net project area.

The floor area will be 26 square meters per housing unit.

The project beneficiar­ies are the landslide victims and their families within the one-kilometer no-build zone.
