Tugade graces Coast Guard anniversary
Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade graced the 118th founding anniversary of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) yesterday.
PCG Commandant Admiral Elson Hermogino welcomed Tugade and other officials of the Department of Transportation, namely Usec. for Finance Garry de Guzman, Usec. for Aviation and Airports Manuel Antonio Tamayo, Office for Transportation Security administrator Usec. Raul Del Rosario, Asec. for Maritime Lino Dabi, Asec. for Railways and Mindanao Projects Eymard Eje, Maritime Industry Authority officer-in-charge administrator Narciso Vingson Jr. and Philippine Ports Authority general manager Jay Santiago, French Ambassador to the Philippines Nicolas Galey and Japan International Cooperation Agency chief Representative in the Philippines Yoshio Wada.
In his keynote speech, Tugade lauded the continuous efforts of the agency to boost capability enhancement for maritime safety and security, as well as for the protection of our coastlines.
“Today, I came to express the appreciation of the President for the many good things you have done and continue to do for this country. I came to you today, in my own self, to assure you that for so long as it is needed for the security and safety of our maritime waters, I shall be with the Philippine Coast Guard,” Tugade said.
Tugade was conferred with arrival honors during the celebration.
For his part, Hermogino expressed gratitude for the guidance and assistance of President Rodrigo Duterte and Secretary Tugade.
“My sincerest gratitude goes to His Excellency Mayor Rodrigo Duterte for his continuing support to the organization, development and modernization of the Philippine Coast Guard. Likewise, we owe much of our success to our beloved Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade for the continued support for the many projects and programs of the PCG,” Hermogino said.
