DUMAGUETE CITY — Canlaon City residents were treated to various government services and engaged with various government agencies as the Provincial Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict conducted the second leg of a consultation and service caravan last Thursday.

Known as Dagyawan, it provides a platform for a solution-driven consultation with the insurgency-plagued community in Canlaon located in the northern part of the province. The community gets to have an interaction with various government agencies to address various concerns.

Canlaon City is almost four hours away from Negros Oriental’s capital of Dumaguete City.

During the event, the task force to end insurgency was formally launched in the city with Canlaon city mayor Jose Chubasco Cardenas and local officials pledging to pursue peace and the development of the countryside areas of the province.

The people from the 12 barangays of Canlaon City were on hand during the Dagyawan. They directly interacted with the national government agencies that can address the concerns of the people.

Primary issues aired during the event were the need for farm-to-market roads, land titling, health and education.
