Caritas Manila assures help
The organization is ready to extend help to those who will be affected in case a typhoon hits the country
Caritas Manila, the social arm of the Archdiocese of Manila, has assured that the organization is ready to extend help to those who will be affected in case a typhoon hits the country anytime before the year ends.
The announcement came after the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration’s (PAGASA) earlier pronouncement that typhoon “Hagibis” may enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) this week.
According to Rev. Fr. Ric Valencia — Priest-In-Charge of Caritas Manila Damayan, they are always ready to respond to various types of disasters in the country.
“At Caritas Manila, we are always prepared for any disasters that come our country, this last quarter of the year we have been exposed to heavy disasters. Caritas Manila is expected to always prepare for such situations,” Fr. Valencia said.
Recent announcements from PAGASA stated that “Hagibis” is unlikely to enter the PAR.
“Hagibis” is seen heading towards Japan, sparing the Philippines from its strong winds and heavy rains.
PAGASA also announced earlier that there are still up to six tropical cyclones which may hit the country before the end of this year.
Thereupon, Fr. Valencia appealed to raise necessary funds needed to prepare for the disasters anticipated to hit the country.
The priest said it was important for Caritas Damayan to raise enough funds to provide relief goods for those affected by the disaster.
Apart from Caritas
Manila, Social Action Centers have also made sure that the Church’s Disaster Risk Reduction Response is ready to help the needy and potentially affected residents of disasters.
