OUTSTANDING WOMEN OF 2019
Though this batch of awardees comes from different sectors of the society, they’ll work as one for a common mission — that is to transform lives of Filipinos, influence them on national issues and nurture future women leaders
A documentary photographer, an entrepreneur, an educator, a journalist, an artist, a lawyer, a peace advocate, a budding scientist and a doctor — all women — have been conferred this year’s TOWNS Awards for their outstanding service to the nation.
With their advocacy and influence in nation development, these exemplary women now join the ranks of past recipients Celeste Legaspi, Teresita Ang See, Nieves Confesor, Cheche Lazaro, Hidilyn Diaz, Lea Salonga, Lilia de Lima and Rachelle Gerodias-Park.
After a year-long careful deliberation by screening committees lead by Dr. Esperanza Cabral and the board of judges spearheaded by Conchita Carpio Morales, this year’s recipients are Karla Patricia Gutierrez for Arts, Samira Gutoc for Peace Advocacy, Gay Jane Perez for Science and Technology, Patricia Ann Prodigalidad for Law, Stephanie Sy for Technology and Entrepreneurship, Rohaniza Usman for Education, Chiara Anne Zambrano for Journalism, Geraldine Zamora for Health and Medicine, Xyza Bacani for Humanities, Carmina Bayombong for Entrepreneurship, Clara Isabelle Delgado for Education and Ma. Regina Justina Estuar for Science and Technology.
Though this batch of awardees comes from different sectors of the society, they’ll work as one for a common mission — that is to transform lives of Filipinos, influence them on national issues and nurture future women leaders.
TOWNS award is given every three years to exemplary Filipinas, ages 21 to 50 years old, who have each positively contributed to the economic, social, cultural development of the country.
Since 1974, TOWNS Foundation Inc. has cited 166 women. These women, who all automatically became members of the foundation, continue to advocate for their field of work years after they have been conferred the award.
TOWNS Foundation is located at Philippine Stock Exchange Centre, W2004B Exchange Road Ortigas Center, San Antonio, Pasig City. They can be reached at townsfoundationinc@gmail.com, www. townsfoundation.net or at www.facebook.com/ TOWNSFoundation.
