Maroons get major boost

University of the Philippine­s (UP) made history last season when it reached the finals of the the University Athletic Associatio­n of the Philippine­s (UAAP) men’s basketball for the first time since 1986.

After losing to Ateneo de Manila University in the best-of-three championsh­ip series the reason, the Fighting Maroons are more motivated to end the more than three decades of title drought.

And the alumni and supporters are with them in searching their second UAAP crown in Season 82.

“We are happy to share the same values, such as passion for excellence and loyalty with the team,” said Vincent Henry Go, vice president and general manager of the Universal Robina Corporatio­n-Agro-Industrial Group, one of the supporters of the squad this tournament.

“This Season 82, we hope they continue to strive and give their best in every game.”

UP is currently second in the team standings with a 5-3 win-loss mark and expectatio­ns are high after acquiring Kobe Paras and Ricci Rivero.

The momentum the Fighting Maroons garnered last year continued this year and the players and team officials are thankful to their fans and supporters.
