AN ‘ICONIC’ COLLABORATION
With a total of 19 production numbers, the concert will last for two and a half hours. Sharon and Regine will also sing each other’s songs and do medleys
For the first time ever, Megastar Sharon Cuneta and Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez, two unrivaled names in the music scene, will share the same stage for the most-awaited concert dubbed as “Iconic” this 18 and 19 October at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Not to be missed is the rare combination of two of the best singers in the Philippines on one stage as it will surely complement and highlight not just their talents but also their friendship.
With a total of 19 production numbers, the concert will last for two and a half hours. Sharon and Regine will also sing each other’s songs and do medleys.
Since this is their first time to collaborate for a concert, the two will go all out for their performances.
“This is a dream come true for me, kasi isang Regine and
isang Sharon magsasama. So, walang makikita kung hindi yung (aming) love for each other (This is a dream come true for me, because Regine and Sharon would join forces on this one. Nothing will be seen here but our love for each other),” Sharon Cuneta shared.
As a singer, Sharon expressed her adoration for Regine’s talent and how honored she was to perform on the same stage as Asia’s Songbird. They shared tips and encouraging words with each other during rehearsals for the much-awaited concert.
“Ako Reg, pag ganyan yung nota, hine-head tone ko na kasi hindi ko na kaya, kasi alto ako tapos siya lahat ng range kaya niya. Alien yan eh (I’ll say, for me, Reg, if that’s the tone, I’m going to head tone it because I can’t reach it. I’m an alto, but Regine can do all the ranges, she’s an alien),” Sharon joked, then revealed that Regine had been encouraging since their first practice. “She has a good heart and even teaches me how to reach high notes,” she added.
Other than the real practices, the two best friends get to do
chikahan (talks) during their breaks. Regine said she looks forward to their rehearsals because she gets to be on a personal level with her idol. “Sharonian talaga ko ever since,” she said.
“Pumila pa ako noon sa Meycauayan for her movie Bukas Luluhod ang mga Tala in 1984. So nang makapasok na ko sa showbiz, I was so starstruck with her. Kinakausap niya ako, hindi ako nagsasalita.
Hiyang-hiya ako (Back then, I lined up in Meycauayan for her movie in 1984. So when I got into show business, I was so starstruck with her. She was
talking to me but I couldn’t answer. I was so embarrassed),” Regine added.
Afterwards, the two got to know each other better as time passed and the possibility of a concert came up. “The idea started years ago. Kapag nagkikita kami, she would tell me, halika, mag-concert naman tayo and I’d say, gusto ko talaga ‘yan. Kaso nga, hindi natutuloy
kasi we were in different networks then. E, ngayon,
puwede na (The idea started years ago. Whenever we met, she would tell me, ‘Let’s do a concert together,’ and I’d agree because I really wanted it. But since we were in different networks, it couldn’t push through. But now, it’s alright),” Regine said.
The “Iconic” concert will be directed by Rowell Santiago alongside musical directors Louie Ocampo and Raul Mitra. For more details and tickets, please visit Ticketnet or call +632-911-5555.
