Despite being in the Final Four, we’ll still play our best game against EAC

- By John Eric Mendoza

Letran College battles Emilio Aguinaldo College (EAC), looking to gain momentum before competing in the Final Four of Season 95 National Collegiate Athletic Association men’s basketball tournament today at the Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

Game time is at 12 noon with the Knights gunning for their 12th win in 18 games to finish the elimination round of the country’s oldest collegiate league on high note.

Meanwhile, San Sebastian College seeks to bounce back and secure a spot in the semifinals when it clashes with Arellano University at 2 p.m. while College of Saint Benilde tackles Jose Rizal University at 4 p.m.

San Beda University was the first to make it to the post-season with a perfect 17-0 win-loss mark, putting it on the brink of sweeping the eliminations and gain an outright finals berth.

Lyceum of the Philippines and Letran are far behind with 13-4 and 11-6 marks, respectively, while San Sebastian College is trying to catch the semis bus with a 9-7 win-loss slate entering the last few days of eliminations.

With a perfect brew of young and veteran players, Letran has been tagged as a major threat to the dominance of the Red Lions.

In their previous game against Jose Rizal University, the Knights displayed their might as veterans Jerrick Balanza and Christian Balagasay came up with impressive performances to pull off a masterful 77-64 conquest.

Still, the Knights have no plan of slowing down.

“Despite being in the Final Four, we’ll still play our best game against EAC,” Letran coach Bonnie Tan said.
