Ride For Life set
In a bid to support the program of the Philippine Red Cross (PRC), the Equestrian Philippines, Inc. will stage the Ride For Life on 16 November at the Manila Polo Club (MPC) in Makati City.
EquestrianPH president Carissa Coscolluela said the tourney would not just showcase the talent of the country’s best riders, but would also help the Blood Samaritan Program of the PRC, an initiative that aims to cover the processing fee of indigent patients who need blood transfusion.
She said those who want to donate could pledge depending on the placing of their selected riders.
Patrons may also donate any amount directly to the PRC if ever their selected riders failed to fare well.
Coscolluela added that aside from being a fund-raising campaign, the tourney would also serve as the second leg of their Indoor Championship Series 2019 and the 6th Manila Showjumping Competition.
Paola Lorenzo, Lara Zobel, Minxie Romualdez and Egyptian expatriate Mohammed El Akkad will also see action in the course designed by Thibault Trassard, a French rider and trainer who had already won several domestic leagues and international Grand Prix titles.
“By harnessing the participation of the riders beyond the usual competitive sporting sense, EquestrianPH hopes to activate every individual’s inherent humanitarian inclination and desire to help those who are suffering and most valuable,” Coscolluela, also a governor of the PRC, said, adding that they will also sponsor first-aid and emergency training to all employees of the equestrian facilities of the MPC.
