Telco showcases 5G tech at NCC
The world-class facilities used in hosting the SEA Games is now being noticed and the entry of a strong telecommunications and connectivity technology will surely make the sports venues at NCC at par with other international sporting venues
As the 2019 Southeast Asian (SEA) Games nears to its close, telecommunications giant PLDT and its wireless subsidiary — Smart Communications Inc. — staged on Monday a special 5G showcase at the New Clark City (NCC) in Capas, Tarlac.
Dubbed as the first Smart 5G Stadium City, the showcase highlighted the exciting new applications that were made possible by the fifth-generation mobile technology in time for the country’s staging of the biennial meet.
Present during the launch was Bases Conversion and Development (BCDA) president and CEO Vince Dizon, who said the new technology will improve more Filipino lives in terms of connectivity and communication.
“This is an exciting time for us, and we hope that this technology will open up more opportunities for the country,” Dizon said.

Among the use cases presented at the NCC Commercial Center were the 4K AI cameras and a 360-degree virtual reality live streaming with enhanced mobile broadband experience using 5G mobile phones.
Included in the experience are cloud gaming, mixed reality/ augmented reality experience 5G-enabled robotics and ultra-high definition live streaming via 8K LED panels.
As a treat, Smart let spectators and sports fans in the NCC try the streaming of SEA Games events from the Mall of Asia Arena, boxing matches from the PICC tent in Pasay City and e-sports matches at the FilOil Flying V Arena in San Juan using the 4K AI cameras.
