#ThisHappened2019: Trending celebrities and hashtags of 2019
Filipinos won’t let themselves get behind what’s “in,” especially in the entertainment side of things
The year has been one rollercoaster ride, especially on Twitterverse — where everyone is up-to-date with what’s happening around the world, sparking meaningful conversation and be the firsts to know the latest gossips.
It’s also a venue for likeminded people to bond over their interests and sharing opinion. Although somehow considered as an open arena where people can freely express themselves, these conversations play a big part in shaping Twitter users all over the world. Diverse, open-minded opinions and eye-opening situations helped unfold the unknown.
Trending topics are usually the go-to page in the application since it’s the most-talked about subjects in the area, and Filipinos won’t let themselves get behind what’s “in,” especially in the entertainment side of things.
For this 2019, 10 celebrities dominated the trending topics in the Philippines.
Maine Mendoza, with her new projects this year, surely was someone to talk about. She was the most tweeted-about hashtag and account on Twitter (@mainedcm.) Her fans truly were active for the whole year.
Beloved celebrities like Maymay Entrata (@maymayentrata07), Edward Barber (@Barber_Edward_), Alden Richards (@aldenrichards02) and Kisses Delavin (@KissesDelavin) were all cemented on the top 10 in both (most tweeted account and hashtag) categories. The strong fandoms of #MayWard and #DonKiss also made it following the success of the movie #HelloLoveGoodbye this year.
For the rest of the Most Tweeted about hashtags, the Filipinos trended the radio program #DyisIsItManila in the second spot. Some of it included the famous #ABSCBNBallFanFave that a lot of netizens took part in, setting the Twitterverse ablaze with conversations.
Other notable celebrities on the list of Most Tweeted about accounts in the country were Kathryn Bernardo (@bernardokath), Lou Yanong (@louyanong), Donny Pangilinan (@donnypangilinan), Aljon Mendoza (@AljonMendoza_) and MOR 101.9 (@mor1019.)
