We are bringing in Hana Cutura who can help us with our vision of finishing at least fourth

A member of the Croatian national squad is coming in to power Marinerang Pilipina when the Philippine Superliga (PSL) Grand Prix fires off this February.

Team manager Jed Montero said Cutura is tipped to provide a lot of spunk for the Lady Skippers, who came from a fruitless campaign in the All-Filipino Conference last year. Cutura is a gem of a recruit.

The open spiker from Zagreb played for the Croatian national squad in various international tournaments, including the prestigious European Championships and the FIVB World Grand Prix in 2017.

She played college volleyball for the University of California Berkeley in the Division I of the US National Collegiate Athletic Association.

“We are bringing in Hana Cutura who can help us with our vision of finishing at least fourth. She is tall and has great talent. And that’s what we need right now,” Montero in a telephone conversation said.

“We have a taller lineup and with Hana coming in, our chance of improving our finish from last year will be higher.”

Cutura will be joining a solid local crew composed of setter Rhea Ramirez, Chiara Permentilla, Souzan Raslan, Coleen Bravo, Jasmine Alcayde and Gen Casugod, who was part of the national team that campaigned in the 29th Southeast Asian Games in Kuala Lumpur.

Also in the squad are Carlie Hernandez, Juliet Catindig, Judith Abil, Nica Guliman, Dimdim

Pacres and skipper Ivy Remulla with Vilet Poncede Leon as head coach.

Montero said their preparation is in full swing as they are eager to give heavyweights like Petron, Chery Tiggo, Cignal and F2 Logistics a run for their money.

“We have a taller lineup this year and we’re hoping to come up with a semifinal finish,” Montero said.

“Rest assured that we would work hard to realize our goal.”

Meanwhile, F2 Logistics will be bringing in Lindsay Stalzer for another tour of duty.

Stalzer, the league’s most decorated guest player, formally arrived Friday for her fifth stint in the country.
