Cubao police arrested 10 suspects in an entrapment operation for selling counterfeit travel authority. Those arrested were Vilma Tigranes, 45, Edelyn Caguioa, 19, Rogelio Devara, 54, Nisan Tabas, 32, Carlito Tigranes, 45, Samson Patiño Jr., 33, William Lanuga, 41, Reychan Servino, 24, Lorencio Colonag Jr., 50, and Vicente Nevia. Quezon City Police District chief P/Brig. Gen. Ronnie Montejo said, “We think this group is part of an organized syndicate that preys on our fellowmen, especially those who are in Metro Manila and who want to go home to their provinces.”

Cubao Police Station 7, under P/Lt. Cpl. Regino Maramag Jr. received an information that the suspects were discreetly offering passengers a “package ride,” inclusive of travel authority and medical certificates, in exchange for amounts ranging from P5,500 to P6,500, depending on the passenger’s final destination.

They utilize private vans that are not even accredited by the Department of Transportation.

The entrapment was staged at DOTV Transport Terminal located on Aurora Boulevard at around 3:30 p.m., 11 June.

Aside from the entrapment money, operatives also seized a computer set used in their counterfeit operation, four vans and P36,000 in cash.

The suspects will be charged with cases of estafa and falsification of public documents before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office. Quezon City Police district chief P/ Brig. Gen. Ronnie Montejo reminded the public not to entertain such “package ride” modus as this will not only compromise their health but also their safety and security.
