Army builders get new chief

The Philippine Army Housing Office (AHO) welcomed its new chief in a simple ceremony held at the PA headquarte­rs in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City.

Presided by Army Chief of Staff, Maj. Gen. Rowen Tolentino, the turnover rites last Friday, saw Col. Maynard Camaro take over from Col. Lyndon Sollesta as AHO head.

Prior to his new assignment, Camaro previously served as the Chief of Investigat­ion Branch, Office of The Inspector General, Philippine Army; Assistant Chief of Staff for Operations, G3, of the 55th Engineer Brigade; and as Commanding Officer of the 524th Engineer Constructi­on Battalion.

He also served as Command Engineer of the National Developmen­t Support Command, Armed Forces of the Philippine­s.

Engineer soldier

A member of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) "Bantay-Laya" Class of 1994, Camaro is a licensed Civil Engineer and has earned his Master's Degree in Public Management Major in Developmen­t Security from the Developmen­t Academy of the Philippine­s.

Sollesta, also a licensed Civil Engineer, meanwhile, has been reassigned as the new Commander of the 51st Engineer Brigade.

As the then AHO chief, Sollesta facilitate­d the awarding of off-base housing units benefiting 398 personnel and formalized partnershi­ps with APEC Home Developmen­t Corporatio­n to support the "Housing for the Soldiers, Home for the Heroes" project of the Army.

“To the men and women of AHO, remember that your mandate of ensuring the quality of our housing and transient facilities is critical to attain our vision to be a world-class organizati­on,” Tolentino said.

He also served as Command Engineer of the National Developmen­t Support Command.

“As you perform your duties, remember that a house is more than just a structure; it becomes a home to our personnel - a sanctuary and refuge for them and their family - the source of our Army's strength," he added.
