Ross said this pair gives him enough stability, cushion and support, that puts him on top of his game whenever he steps on the court

More than his vast collection of accolades ranging from Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) titles, Defensive Team and All-Star inclusions, Most Improved Player diadem and Most Valuable Player crown, there’s something in Chris Ross’ gallery that would make sneakerheads green with envy.

Yes, the San Miguel Beer guard is one of the league’s most admired players not just for his heady playmaking and hard-nosed defense, but also for his ability to rock shoes that perfectly compliment his game.

Here are some of the kicks that occupy a special place in Ross’ massive collection:

Released in 1995, this sneaker has been the iconic symbol of Michael Jordan’s return to the NBA after his controversial retirement in 1993.

With its highly recognizable classic black and white colorway and translucent sole, this model became even more loved by sneakerheads after it appeared in Jordan’s hit animated movie, Space Jam.

Ross said he fell in love with its sleek design and stability, making it easier to make those smooth cuts and drives to the basket.

First seen in Jordan’s 1987-1988 season, this sneaker will never be forgotten as it first introduced the inclusion of Jordan’s famous logo — the Jumpman — on its design.

Perfected by American designer Tinker Hatfield, the distinct combination of flight, elephant print and white-cement grey shade gives the memory of Jordan’s second slamdunk contest victory in his NBA-All Star career.

For Ross, this model never goes out of style and he could easily rock it inside and outside

the court.

The pair that started it all. this model was the trailblazer of Jordan’s successful career, and shoe line as well.

Arriving in 1985 with a back-then unusual black-red combination, this prototype model reflected Jordan’s unusual yet very impressive impact on the league by averaging 28.2 points per game while taking home the Rookie of the Year plum and All-Star honor.

Ross loves it because he believes that a classic beauty like this never goes out of style.

Already established his dominance, skill, and prowess in the league, the Air Jordan

13 was designed to symbolize Michael Jordan’s cat-like quickness and reflection that has led him and the Chicago Bulls to numerous titles.

Since its release, Air Jordan 13 has offered various shades and colors, but still best recognizable by its dimpled overlays and holographic jewel resembling a panther eye and paw.

Ross stressed that this is one of his favorite pair and he posses some of its strangest and coolest colorways.

Crafted by Ben Nethongkome, this model was designed in line with Kyrie Irving’s top-tier quickness and explosiveness. Its sole cushion features a comfortable support for quick moves and crossovers. Moreover, it provides an aesthetic functionality related to Irving’s appreciation for street culture and retro design.

Ross believes that this model is perfect for playmakers like him as it enables him to change direction with ease before swishing a jumper.

Inspired from the layout of famous sports car manufacturer “Ferrari,” Air Jordan XIV was released after Michael Jordan’s second retirement in the NBA. This iconic model made its first appearance in the court during the 1998 NBA Finals where Jordan hit the iconic “Last Shot” against Utah Jazz and gave the Chicago Bulls its second three-peat title.

It seems Ross was always at his best whenever he rocks this pair.

Jordan IX gained global popularity as the first sneaker release after MJ announced his first retirement in 1993.

As it evolved in different colorways throughout the years, its original unit boasts the combination of white, black and red skin with a dynamic sole technology.

Ross said this pair gives him enough stability, cushion and support, that puts him on top of his game whenever he steps on the court.

Originally released in 1994, it was the second unit of Jordan’s shoe line designed during his first hiatus from basketball. It is pretty much recognizable due to its steel grey colorway and leather material with added toe cap in the design.

Interestingly, Jordan personally requested for some changes in the design, removing the toe cap for a much cleaner look on its succeeding releases.

But for Ross, it doesn’t matter.

For as long as they are on his feet, these bad boys would always look good.
