Daily Tribune (Philippines)

SALVADOR PANELO Chief Presidential Legal Counsel

-

I extend my warmest greetings to Daily Tribune as it celebrates its 20th anniversary.

Since day one of Daily Tribune, which was founded by a group of idealistic, smart and enthusiastic journalists headed by a fiercely independent minded journalist, the late Ninez Cacho-Olivares, the newspaper has built the reputation of having a critical but objective style of reporting, inspiring countless practitioners in the press industry.

The transfer of its ownership to the renowned PR man and journalist Willie Fernandez has further motivated the members of the editorial board of the Daily Tribune, as well as all its writers, to continue pursuing their goal of delivering fair and factual information to Filipinos without fear or favor.

The Daily Tribune has indeed set itself apart from most papers by ensuring that its reports on current events are straightforward and impartial, without impertinent or biased comments or remarks. In the midst of today’s news landscape with biases and unfairness in reporting widespread, writers of the newspaper remain committed to true and fair reporting which provides our countrymen with vital and accurate information.

Daily Tribune subscribers and readers enjoy reading its editorial and opinion pages containing commentaries belonging to its bench of insightful columnists who belong to various professional fields and represent a broad spectrum of ideas. I am honored to be one of its regular columnists.

To be sure, the Daily Tribune, on its 20th year in the newspaper business, will continue to flourish while its hardworking men and women endeavor to face the daily challenges of honest reportage. Surely, Daily Tribune belongs to one of the industries in our country which demonstrate our vibrant democracy,

Congratulations and here is wishing the Daily Tribune a fruitful anniversary celebration!
