‘RED FLAVOR’ GETS ORCHESTRA VERSION
After three years, the “Red Flavor” fever is still on!
The Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra (SPO), in collaboration with Red Velvet’s agency SM Entertainment, will release an orchestra version of the K-pop band’s summer 2017 hit track, “Red Flavor.”
The single will be released on 17 July at 6 p.m. KST through SM Station, a music project launched by the agency in 2016 where its artists release regular digital singles (often collaborations with other performers) ahead of their respective group’s comebacks.
Renowned music director and producer Park In Young reportedly participated in the orchestral rearrangement of the hit song. It will be performed with an upbeat piano melody, accompanied by a 44-member orchestral ensemble.
Meanwhile, Red Velvet’s first sub-unit featuring Seulgi and Irene finally debuted with its first mini-album, Monster. Its title track of the same name, accompanied by an eerie and paranormal music video, shows the duo’s sultry and fierce personality.

In a livestream event ahead of the album’s release, Seulgi and Irene thought that everyone will agree that “Monster” is both a powerful and different song.
“The performances in the intro and outro are unique. With the dancers, we form a spider shape and I think it goes really well with the title ‘Monster.’ The biggest charm of the performance is how we’re styled like twins and our choreography looks like we’re controlling or mirroring each other at times, so I hope people will pay attention to our performances,” Seulgi said.
Irene added, “We really paid attention to everything. Not only things like recording, choreography and the music video, but also what we could do for all the fans who have been waiting for us.”
Upon its release, Monster peaked number one on various physical album charts, including Hanteo Chart, Synnara Record and YES24. The title track also topped Bugs, VIBE and Momople.
On 9 July, Irene and Seulgi announced their new variety show Level Up Irene x Seulgi Project, with producer Kim Ji Sun as its director. It will be a spin-off of Red Velvet’s reality series Level
Up Project which premiered July 2017.
In other news, SM Entertainment will reportedly release its new sub-label, SM Classics, soon.
