-

One Direction, the boyband that has made the most mark since the 1990s’ Backstreet Boys, N’Sync, Boyzone and Westlife celebrates its 10th anniversary this year.

Though it has since been inactive, with Zayn Malik opting to leave the group in 2015 before the group’s “On the Road Again Tour” stop in Manila, Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson and Liam Payne still remain talked about on social media, with fans constantly updating each of the group’s activities and individual career news.

And on Wednesday, 22 July (PST), fans trended #10YearsofOneDirection, landing the top spot on the Philippine Twitter trending list, a day before the fandom marks its anniversary on 23 July.

One Directioners, which is the name of the fandom, cannot wait for their anniversary treats to be released on the said date. These include a 10-year anniversary video and an immersive fan experience website called “10 Years of One Direction.” The video will also be uploaded on YouTube.

The band’s PR firm Simon Jones shared that the website will “host an archive of music videos, artwork, TV performances, behind-the-scenes and rarely-seen content, all in one place.”

It added that reformatted EP will include B-sides and rare songs, remixes, live recordings and acoustic versions of tracks grouped into one place.

The boys have one of the most successful boyband careers of recent times. After failing to win in X-Factor in 2010, they signed up with Simon Cowell’s Syco Records. The group released five albums, namely Up All

Night (2011), Take Me Home (2012), Midnight Memories (2013), Four (2014) and Made in the A.M. (2015).
