BAGUIO CITY — The City Health Services Office (CHSO) and Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong reiterate their call for the public to be vigilant, observe safety protocols and avoid unnecessary travels as the city records 16 new cases of the coronavirus disease infections as of Tuesday.

Added to the list were a 21-year-old male from Upper QM; 27-year-old female from Balsigan; 32-year-old male from San Luis; 35-year old female from Sto. Niño; 55-year-old male from City Camp Proper; 26-year-old male with address at La Trinidad; 26-year-old male from Kias; 35-year-old male from Irisan; 42-year-old female from San Luis Village; 46-year-old male, 58 and 31-year-old females, all from Camp 7; 55-year-old male from Pacdal; 54-year-old female and 39-year-old male from Campo Filipino; and 32-year-old female from Teacher’s Village.

Magalong admits three of its personnel at the PFVR Gym at the Upper Session Road of the city have tested positive for COVID-19. On Wednesday, the facility was closed to the public to give way for disinfection and further testing.

"As a safety precaution, we will also close city hall to the public for two days and will allow only a limited number of workforce to ensure continuity of operations," city hall officials said.

Contact tracing is underway as well. Those who visited PFVR and city hall from 29 July to present are advised to go on self-quarantine and seek medical attention at the onset of symptoms.

City Epidemiologist Dr. Donna Lorenzana Tubera-Panes said, the success of local contact tracing efforts depend on accuracy of data. She said one’s honesty can spell the difference between life and death while the health crisis lasts.

She said contact tracers sometimes have difficulty locating spreaders because the information they enter in logbooks were either lacking or false.

These errors or omissions include false names, wrong addresses or false contact numbers. Worse, some entries are simply unreadable.

She appealed, the best contribution residents can do to ease the overwhelming task the contact tracing teams now experience is to provide clear and correct information about themselves.
