Ye-jin, Hyun Bin choose smart

Their love story hasn’t ended. Yet. Crash Landing On You (CLOY) fans stays winning five months after the hit show’s last episode aired on Netflix as local telco giant, SMART, tapped Son Ye-jin (Yoon Se-ri) and Hyun Bin (Lee Jeon-hyeok aka Captain Ri) to be its newest brand ambassadors. Hyun Bin was first announced in June as the face of the telco’s ‘Simple. Smart Ako’ campaign which highlights the brand’s LTE and Giga promos. “’Simple. Smart Ako’ sums up our company’s approach all this time to make amazing technology available, and more importantly, simple for every Filipino,” Alfredo Panlilion, Smart president and CEO and PLDT chief revenue officer, said. Hyun Bin first won the hearts of Filipino fans when the Tagalog-dubbed version of the K-drama My Name is Kim Sam Soon was aired locally in 2005. “Filipinos are some of the warmest fans in the world, and I am thankful to Smart for giving me a way to reach out to everyone in the Philippines,” Hyun Bin shared. He also believes that connectivity plays a big role in bridging the gap of two different cultures, like that of a Korean superstar himself and international fans like Filipinos.

Because of her undeniable acting skills, the brand believes that Ye-jin embodies what the campaign truly stands for, the passion in making dreams come true. “As an actress, I am always grateful for having a platform to entertain and touch the lives of others through my craft. I thank Smart for giving me a way to specifically reach out to my Filipino fans and inspire them to make a mark in whatever path that they have chosen. I wish to see you all soon,” Ye-jin said. More than the announcement, Filipino fans are eagerly waiting at the possibility of the Hallyu superstars visiting Manila together. Hyun Bin was first known for his character in My Name is Kim Sam Soon (2005) opposite actress Kim Sun-ah. He also appeared in the successful shows such as Secret Garden (2010), Confidential Assignment (2017), The Swindlers (2017), Memories of the Alhambra (2018), Rampant (2018) and The Negotiation (2018), his first project with Son Ye-jin. On the other hand, Ye-jin gained popularity with The Classic (2003), Summer Scent (2003), A Moment to Remember (2004), April Snow (2005), My Wife Got Married (2008), The Pirates (2014), The Truth Beneath (2016), Last Princess (2016) and Something in the Rain (2018). Crash Landing On You, which began airing on Netflix on 14 December 2019, remains as one of Korean TVN channel’s highest-rated drama series.
