STYLE DOES NOT GO TO WASTE

This time, we take part in these materials and together with a great team of creatives we convert what we normally see as waste into art

Celebrated annually on 3 July, the International Plastic Bag Free Day was created by Bag Free World as a worldwide initiative for the purpose of eliminating the single-use of plastic bags around the world.

In the midst of the global pandemic, Venezuelan born art and fashion director Eduardo Villarreal creates an ecological-themed project while spending time in quarantine in Miami.

Villarreal, the former Creative Director of D’Galas magazine for five years with national circulation in Venezuela, contacted Nidal Nouaihed for a possible collaboration on the project. Nouaihed was also in Miami where Villareal is currently based.

To create and execute all avant-garde pieces, no sewing machines and seams were used, only glue and adhesive tapes.

Nouaihed belongs to a generation of prolific Venezuelan designers of prêt-á-porter and haute couture which, in the last 20 years, have reigned not only from his state of Zulia but also in different states of Venezuela.

His fashion is synonymous with refinement and originality with classic yet modern lines for the female fashion sphere and an accurate depiction of edgy menswear.

Nouaihed immediately became interested in knowing Villarreal’s brilliant fashion initiative. Little by little, the two vanguards of fashion shared ideas which took shape and materialized. Then it was photographed artistically and creatively under the lens of Venezuela’s Benigno López and a team of professionals known for capturing social aspects and demonstrating cultural images.

“This time, we take part in these materials and together with a great team of creatives we convert what we normally see as waste into art. We created a collection of four dresses made from recycled material brought to high fashion,” Nidal shared a few days ago. Nouaihed was inspired and motivated by a material that people discard easily.

Today, plastic becomes a noble material used to create jewelry for dresses. It is an ecological theme that has become a statement of fashion art. The message is clear: everything is usable and creativity stimulates technology to preserve the world with responsibility. To create and execute all avant-garde pieces, no sewing machines and seams were used, only glue and adhesive tapes. Miss Earth Puerto Rico representing San Juan, Valerie Vigoreaux Cortés, was featured wearing these creations in a behind-the-scenes video of the creative process glammed by Puerto Rico’s Anthony Chris. Villareal wants to continue raising and extending awareness on saving the planet by using creativity through fashion and art to transmit a powerful message.
