The Philippine Taekwondo Association (PTA) is set to train in a bubble setup as soon as the government lifts the modified enhanced community quarantine in Metro Manila.

PTA secretary general Rocky Samson said they have already submitted their training program to the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) in which they proposed to house their athletes in a secluded facility to make sure that they will not contract coronavirus.

NU is one of our targets as training venue after being recommended by our coaches and athletes.

Samson said they are looking to train at the National University (NU), or any school in Metro Manila that offers good training facility for the national athletes looking to punch tickets to the Tokyo Olympics next year.

He cited schools like Far Eastern University, Ateneo de Manila University and College of Saint Benilde as their potential training sites.

“NU is one of our targets as training venue after being recommended by our coaches and athletes,” said Samson, who presented their plan to PSC officials and Olympic chief of mission Nonong Araneta last week.

“But we are also considering other schools with set-up for taekwondo training.”

Southeast Asian Games gold medalist Pauline Lopez is strongly batting for the federation to have its own bubble setup so they can prepare for the Summer Games.

The 23-year-old looker is currently training in her own bubble, which is a office converted into a taekwondo facility, to make sure that her buildup will not be hampered.
