A to­tal of P293,355,000 has been dis­trib­uted to 58,671 wait­listed ben­e­fi­cia­ries of the So­cial Ame­lio­ra­tion Pro­gram as of Mon­day, the Depart­ment of So­cial Wel­fare and De­vel­op­ment-East­ern Visayas (DSWD-EV) re­ported.

An­gela Gopalan said the dis­tri­bu­tion will con­tinue un­til all 81,003 on the wait­list from 129 lo­cal gov­ern­ment units (LGU) in the six prov­inces of Re­gion VIII are served.

“These are qual­i­fied poor fam­i­lies who did not re­ceive the cash grant dur­ing the first tranche,” she said.

Each wait­listed ben­e­fi­ciary is en­ti­tled to an emer­gency sub­sidy of

P5,000 cash, given ei­ther through di­rect pay­out or dig­i­tal pay­ment.

As of 21 Septem­ber, 29,526 wait­listed ben­e­fi­cia­ries have been served in Leyte; 10,819 in West­ern Sa­mar; 9,362 in North­ern Sa­mar; 3,829 in East­ern Sa­mar; 3,703 in South­ern Leyte; and 1,432 in Bili­ran.

Of the 58,671 fam­i­lies served, 10,224 were paid in cash while 48,447 got their as­sis­tance via dig­i­tal means.

A to­tal of 129 out of 143 LGU sub­mit­ted a list of wait­listed ben­e­fi­cia­ries.


SAP as­sis­tance to East­ern Visayas’ wait­listed ben­e­fi­cia­ries has reached nearly P300 mil­lion.
