Hera Geriene: Generous artist
An artist who gives away her earnings to philanthropic organizations, Hera Geriene, indeed has so much to be grateful for. Her husband, Mark Geriene, is Amazon’s number one best-selling author of the book, Finding Your Treasure: Without Losing Yourself.
Their daughter, Mara, is a Hollywood actress who has graced magazine covers. The family maintains residences both in the United States and the Philippines which explains why Hera is active in the social scene.
Of her art, Hera says, “I’m a naturally happy person who enjoys the company of people. My creativity stems from my happiness, and while I love to paint, all of my paintings are a reflection of my life, experiences and my interests.”
Her first art exhibit was at Chef Jessie in November 2019. It was titled “Things I’ve seen, things I’ve imagined and places I’ve been”. The net proceeds were donated to Make-a-Wish Foundation. I intend to have another exhibit when the society resumes its normalcy, hopefully in the not too distant future.
Mark and Hera were in Australia when the COVID-19 virus was emerging in the international scene. She shares, “Fortunately we had an excellent time at the Barossa Pavillions in Lyndoch, (Barossa Valley) Australia, before returning to the Philippines. We stayed in a pavilion, actually a private bungalow overlooking the vineyards and the fields of livestock. They are so private, the only sounds you hear are the wind and that of an occasional motor in the distance.”

Favorite clothes: “In the Philippines I wear a long dress. In the US I wear sweatpants-Pink by Victoria Secret.” Favorite soap: “I’ve been using Dove (made in the USA) for a long time.” Favorite perfume: “My husband gave me Spellbound by Estée Lauder shortly before we got married and I’ve been wearing it for 29 years.”
Skincare secrets: “I drink plenty of water, wash my face nightly no matter how late I get home, try to eat healthy food and stay happy most of the time.”
Favorite casual shoe brand: “Over the years I have changed brands many times. I’m more concerned with comfort when I wear casual shoes. When I find a pair of shoes I like, I will wear them often until they are worn out. Brands like Ferragamo, Bally and Prada retain their appeal for years because they are made with quality A TALENT plus materials and workmanship.”

Favorite art work at home: “One of my favorite pieces is an original serigraph titled Coming of Spring by Erte. It depicts a woman sitting on a bed of flowers, waving goodbye to the snowy white of winter and letting the warmth of spring fill the canvas. I always feel great when I look at it.”
