BUBBLE NOTES

Doctor to the rescue

With players getting injured early in the conference, the PBA did the most logical thing to keep everyone safe and healthy: Bring in a doctor.

Dr. George Canlas, a noted sports doctor, is set to stay inside the bubble to take care of the cagers, who are getting their first taste of competitive action after a seven-month layoff.

Canlas has yet to arrive, but his first order of business is to check on the injuries of Kevin Racal of Alaska and Terrence Romeo of San Miguel Beer, who crashed with knee and shoulder injuries in the past couple of days.

“He will check on Kevin this Saturday so we can see what we will do next,” Alaska coach Jeff Cariaso said.

Kiefer Ravena finally got a taste of home after three weeks inside the PBA bubble.

The NLEX playmaker was obviously surprised when a balikbayan box from her mother, Mozzy, and girlfriend, Alyssa Valdez, arrived Friday morning.

Since the league has been very strict in allowing packages from Manila to enter the bubble, Ravena was touched by the sweet gesture of the women in his life.

“Thank you babe and mama,” Ravena posted on social media to express his gratitude for the big box that contains snacks, drinks, chips and other goodies that would make him feel at home.

While Tim Cone of Ginebra swims and walks and Pido Jarencio of Northport eats ice cream, Caloy Garcia of Rain or Shine has his own way to kill time.

The youthful mentor said he made sure to stack up his hard drive with movies so he and his coaching staff can watch it after training.

And it wasn’t just sports movies.

Garcia said he has a wide array of genres ranging from action, drama and mystery flicks.

“Before we entered the bubble, I already downloaded lots of movies. So, whenever I’m not busy, I can simply watch and relax,” Garcia said.
