CLARK — Panibagong pagsubok naman ang haharapin ng San Miguel Beer sa kanilang kampanya sa PBA Philippine Cup nang makumpirmang hindi na makapagpapatuloy ang Beermen stalwart na si Terrence Romeo dahil sa tinamo nitong shoulder injury.
Ayon kay San Miguel coach Leo Austria, isang malaking hamon ang injury ni Romeo para sa koponan dahil mababawasan na naman sila ng manlalaro para sa kanilang title-retention campaign.
Ang big-man ng San Miguel na si June Mar Fajardo ay na-injured din noong nakaraang season.
Nakuha ni Romeo ang injury matapos ang pagkatalo ng Beermen sa TNT Tropang Giga, 88-107, nitong Biyernes.
“We are frustrated that we are not playing well right now. Prior to the first game, we were doing well in practices,” saad ni Austria, at dagdag niya, hindi makapaglalaro si Romeo mula anim hanggang walong linggo.
“If you can see what is happening in our games, we are really missing June Mar. He is a very reliable go-to-guy for us,” dagdag niya.
Inamin ni Austria na mahihirapan na ang koponan dahil inaasahang hindi na makababalik sa bubble conference si Romeo.
“We know that Terrence has always been the target of other teams because he is one of our key contributors. It’s just very unfortunate that he got injured,” sabi ni Austria. “We are still trying to figure out what adjustments we are going to do at this moment. I think the chances for the championship are still there, but it is going to be tough for us.”
