Fire victims assisted by fellow Davaoeño Kuya Bong
President Rodrigo Duterte ordered that the poor and vulnerable will have first access to vaccines so we can all resume our normal lives
Senator Christopher “Bong” Go’s team distributed additional assistance to affected families of a fire incident in his hometown Davao City.
The distribution was held at the Phase 1 covered court of Mercedes Subdivision in Barangay Panacan in strict compliance with health protocols.
The fire incident happened on 27 August in Purok 13-A of Sunrise Village. “Wear your shields and masks, practice social distancing, wash your hands always and avoid going out unless absolutely necessary,” he said.
“Your government will always be here to assist you and attend to your needs. Together we can overcome this crisis.”
He assured them that once the COVID-19 vaccine is available, the government will prioritize and ensure access to poor and vulnerable sectors.
“President Rodrigo Duterte ordered that the poor and vulnerable will have first access to vaccines so we can all resume our normal lives,” he said.
Wear your shields and masks, practice social distancing, wash your hands always and avoid going out unless absolutely necessary.
Go’s team also distributed food packs and medicines. Bicycles were given to select beneficiaries to help them in their commute to work and tablets for children to cope with blended learning.
The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) distributed Negosyo Kits, such as for retail stores and rice or egg retailing under the Pangkabuhayan Para sa Pagbangon at Ginhawa Program, to 34 beneficiaries and conducted entrepreneurial training.
The outreach activity on Friday was a follow-up event to the distribution of assistance the day after fire incident, also with government agencies assisting the senator’s staff.
During the previous visit, Go’s team distributed the same items — except for tablets — and was joined by personnel from the Departments of Social Welfare and Development and Health, Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office and Davao City Social Services and Development Office, which set up a a mobile kitchen and gave away food items.
Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, the senator continues to reach out and extend much-needed relief to Filipinos affected by disasters and other crises. He carried out a similar aid-distribution activity for 47 fire victims in Barangay Ilang on 14 October.
“President Duterte and I will continue serving to you. Let us cooperate and continue praying that we get through all our problems. Together we shall overcome,” he said.
