Problematic? Pia Wurtzbach absent in her talk show
The Miss Universe 2015 is attending to family matters, most probably involving her younger sister who suffered a public meltdown on social media last week
Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach seems problematic about her younger sister, Sarah Wurtzbach, who is said to be going through some mental health issues.
In a series of Instagram posts on 11 October, Sarah ranted and publicly humiliated Pia and their mother, Cheryl Alonzo Tyndall.
Sarah lives in London with her two kids and a partner, Charles Manze.
The rants were mainly about Pia’s lack of support for Sarah. One form of support Sarah was asking for was financial.
The most insulting allegation Sarah wrote against her sister and their mom was: “Ang baho
ng buhay n’yo (Your lives stink)!”
Pia may have secretly flown to London the next day. Or she may be just on a hiatus somewhere in the country’s 7,000-plus islands. But wherever she’s keeping safe and warm in these rainy days, she does not want the public to know.
She was absent in her weekly online talk show Queentuhan on 13 October. Her co-hosts Bianca Guidotti (Bb. Pilipinas International 2014) and Carla Lizard (Mutya ng Pilipinas Intercontinental 2010) were present and Carla announced that Pia’s absence was due to a commitment.

Queentuhan said that Pia has never been absent before. The show is on its second season.
Pia has two Facebook accounts — one labeled “Official,” the other, “Public Figure.” The public account has posts on 12 October announcing the Miss Universe Philippines pageant.
There was a mysterious post on the same day about dance rehearsals in a hospital in Southern Luzon. It’s not clear what Pia has to do with the hospital. The people rehearsing wore masks and I couldn’t figure out if Pia was one of them.
Pia has a business manager, Rica Infantado-Fernandez, connected to the agency that manages her career. Last week, Rica said that Pia was attending to family matters not meant for media and the public to know.

Meanwhile, two other Miss Universe titlists have been visible in showbiz these days, particularly on television.
Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray is now a full-fledged musical variety show host on Brightlight Productions’ Sunday Noontime Live! (SNL) on TV5. Her cohosts are Piolo Pascual, Maja Salvador, Donny Pangilinan, and Jake Ejercito. SNL is directed by Johnny Manahan, former head of ABS-CBN’s Star Magic talent pool. Miss Universe 1969 Gloria Diaz plays the neighborhood gossip in Oh My
Dad! — likewise a Brightlight Productions blocktime show on TV5. The dad in the sitcom is Ian Veneracion, whom two girls and one boy in the neighborhood claim to be their father despite their having different mothers.
Gloria, the country’s first Miss Universe, quipped: “My role is very me!” Oh My Dad also stars Dimples Romana, Sue Ramirez and Ariel Ureta, with Jeffery Jeturian as director.
