House Speaker Lord Allan Velasco is all healthy and had tested negative for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Velasco himself confirmed this during his interview in the Daily

Tribune’s digital show “Straight Talk” on Tuesday.

He got tested for the viral respiratory ailment after experiencing a slight fever over the weekend which could have developed due to his strenuous schedule the past week at the House of Representatives.

The Marinduque representative said the fever might have been triggered by the stress and the adrenaline that spun through him for a long period, being the successor of the lower chamber’s top seat.

He assumed Speakership post last 12 October and had to approve the 2021 national budget on time through marathon budget deliberations from 13 to 16 October.

Velasco started to become more visible in the public eye last September when the President convened him and former Speaker Cayetano to discuss the transition of House leadership.

Meanwhile, the lower house had disclosed it has listed its 86th COVID-19 case last 19 October.

The patient is a 24-year-old staff member of the Office of Laguna Rep. Sol Aragones, a resident of Quezon City, and now under home quarantine.

He is unaware if he had prior exposure to a COVID-19 positive patient.

Said staff member developed symptoms such as mild headache with dizziness, cough, colds and fatigue last 15 October and got tested the next day.

Contract tracing is ongoing.
