300 Cainta residents to get P1,000

In lieu of a town fiesta, the Cainta mayor will be raffling off P1,000 to 300 lucky residents

The town of Cainta, Rizal is canceling its town fiesta, originally scheduled today, as a preventive against the spread of the coronavirus disease.

Instead, Cainta Mayor Johnielle Keith Nieto will be raffling off P300,000 to be given to 300 residents who will each get P1,000.

The mayor made the announcement on his Facebook page.

To qualify for the raffle, which he called a “Cash Serye,” interested residents only need to send a comment to his page.

In his post, the mayor said each of the 300 residents will be receiving P1,000 cash on 30 November and 1 December, the feast days the town observes in honor of their patron saints, Saint Andrew the Apostle and the Our Lady of Light, respectively.

The cash gift will be given until all the recipients have gotten their prizes.

The Cainta local government had previously initiated the holding of various events related to the town’s twin fiesta celebration.

This includes the “Sumbingtik” Festival, a series of activities that showcase the history and culture of the town, including the passion of residents in preparing native delicacies and sweets.

The “Cash Serye” is the latest in a series of activities Nieto introduced in the past weeks on his FB page.

He previously had a “Siomai Serye,” “Pizza Serye” and “Chicken Wings Serye,” where lucky netizens had free food delivered to their homes.

During the pandemic’s first few months, the Cainta mayor auctioned off some of his personal collection of signature basketball shoes and donated the proceeds to his needy constituents.

Today, 1 December, is a special non- working day in Cainta by virtue of a Presidential Proclamation recently signed by Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea.
