Arjo, AAA best actor
Filipino actor Arjo Atayde was hailed “Best Actor in a Leading Role” at this year’s Asian Academy Awards ( AAA) for his performance in the 2019 series “Bagman.”
The show followed Atayde’s character, Benjo, as a “bagman” or one who collected money for a corrupt governor.
Atayde’s nuanced performance clinched for him the best actor award on AAA Philippines last October, setting him up for the bigger win.
Announced through a virtual red- carpet affair last 4 December, Atayde’s win was the first for a Filipino.
He bested Hong Kong’s Anthony Wong for “The Republic,” India’s Manoj Bajapyee for “The Family Man,” Indonesia’s Miller Khan for “Assalamualaikum Calon Imam,” among others.

‘Glee’ honors Naya Rivera
Stars of the popular TV musical Glee will reunite for a holiday fundraiser to honor their co-actor Naya Rivera who died from drowning last July.
The cast launched a GoFundMe for Rivera’s organization, Alexandria House. The fundraiser is happening in the venue of the late actress’ annual charitable Christmas party which she called “Snixxmas.”
The actors also joined forces to create a video where they took turns in reading the description of the organization.
Matthew Morrison who played Wil Schuester in the show wrote on Twitter: Let’s cherish the beautiful spirit of our friends Naya Rivera.
Meanwhile, Darren Criss highlighted that the initiative is more than glitz and glamour.
“Naya not only managed to find a way to give something great back to her friends and family, but something great back to her community,” he added.
In a span of 12 hours after posting, the fundraiser has collected more than $24,000.
