3 more NPA guerilla fronts dismantled
As part of the government’s continuing efforts to finally rid the country of insurgency, the military on Monday reported the dismantling of three more Guerilla
Fronts of the New People’s
Army (NPA) in Southern Luzon. These Guerilla Fronts, according to the Philippine Army’s 2nd Infantry Division (2ID), operated the NPA’s strongholds in the provinces of Quezon, Batangas, Cavite, Rizal, Laguna and parts of Bulacan and Aurora. “Guerilla Fronts are local NPA organizations responsible for extortion, murder of government officials including AFP and PNP members, harassment of businesses and destruction of flagship projects,” 2ID commander, Maj. Gen. Greg Almerol said.
“The dismantling of these fronts have effectively put an end to the NPA’s terroristic activities in most parts of CALABARZON (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon),” he further said.
Prior to this, various military units had also been successful in eradicating 13 other NPA fronts across the country, with the Armed Forces of
the Philippines vowing to remain unrelenting in their pursuit of insurgents throughout the year through the different Task Forces to End Local Communist Armed Conflict.
“The Army’s 2nd Infantry Division is committed to its mandate and assures the people that these achievements are proof of the soldiers’ devotion toward a secure and peaceful future for every Filipino,” concluded Almerol.
