Kuya Bong vows improved access to healthcare
It is a privilege to witness the start of the construction of this hospital. Thank you to all who made this possible for Lucena residents
Determined to continue improving access to quality healthcare services, Senator Christopher “Bong” Go personally attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of Lucena City General Hospital (LCGH) on Friday.
Go praised the brains behind the hospital.
“It is a privilege to witness the start of the construction of this hospital. Thank you
to all who made this possible for Lucena residents,” he said in his speech. “You can gauge a community’s growth and success by how it takes care of and provides service to its residents.”
Local officials, headed by Representatives David Suarez and Anna Villaraza-Suarez, Governor Danilo Suarez, Vice Governor Samuel Nantes, Lucena City Mayor Roderick Alcala, Vice Mayor Philip Castillo and other local leaders, welcomed Go, chair of the Committee on Health. Go reiterated his advocacy
to provide accessible and quality healthcare nationwide.
“President Rodrigo Duterte wants an effective and decent healthcare system for Filipinos. That is one of my advocacies, too,” he explained.
President Duterte wants the poor and vulnerable sectors, the elderly and frontliners to get the vaccines first.
LCGH will decongest the Quezon Medical Center, where the 26th Malasakit Center was established in February 2019.
Go has sponsored 11 local bills that were enacted into laws to
increase bed capacities and service capabilities of public hospitals, including Bicol Medical Center in Naga City; Bicol Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Pamplona, Camarines Sur; Cagayan Valley Medical Center in Tuguegarao City; Caraga Regional Hospital in Surigao City; Las Piñas General Hospital and Satellite Trauma Center; Malita District Hospital in Davao Occidental; Quirino Memorial Medical Center in Quezon City; Siargao District Hospital in Dapa, Surigao del Norte; Maria L. Eleazar District Hospital in Tagkawayan, Quezon; Talisay District Hospital in Cebu; and Western Visayas Medical Center in Iloilo City.
Go was the principal author of the Malasakit Centers Act of 2019.
The one-stop shop where the Department of Social Welfare and Development, Department of Health, PhilHealth, and Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office are housed provides convenient access to medical assistance programs for all Filipinos, especially indigent and poor patients.
As the Covid-19 pandemic continued to threaten lives, Go assured the government is working hard to address and improve healthcare services.
Once safe and effective vaccines become available as approved by the Food and Drug Administration, the government will prioritize the poor and the vulnerable sectors as well as frontliners.
“President Duterte wants the poor and vulnerable sectors, the elderly and frontliners to get the vaccines first,” he shared. “Be patient and continue following safety protocols. Soon, this pandemic will be over and our lives will be back to normal.”
Earlier in the day, Go attended the groundbreaking for the seawall construction in Barangay Talao-Talao and extended aid to hundreds of fisherfolk. He gave similar assistance to market vendors.
