2M health workers took free rides
The DoTr Road Sector reported it deployed 43 vehicles during last Friday’s Libreng Sakay program
The Department of Transportation (DoTr) continues with its Libreng Sakay program for health workers, which is available not just in the National Capital Region, but also in Regions 1 to 12, Cordillera Autonomous Region and CARAGA region.
The service is being offered free in other areas of the country with the cooperation of the Land Transportation Office (LTO) and Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB).
On Friday, 22 January 2021, total ridership reached 2,044,780. Of this total ridership, 562,245 are from Metro Manila and 1,482,535 are from the regions.
Meanwhile, it is possible to view the exact location online of buses under the 20 routes of Greater Manila Area due to the GPS location tracker installed on all units. This way, frontliners can know the exact time a bus will be available. This feature is due to the cooperation of the DoTr with PLDT Enterprise and Vectras Inc.
The exact location of buses can be viewed via the website and mobile app of Sakay.ph, as well as through Google Maps.

In partnership with Petron Corp., DoTr is also providing a fuel subsidy to all transport companies that are part of the program.
Likewise, the toll fees of all medical workers on all expressways in Luzon are still free.
The free toll fee program is being implemented in cooperation with the Toll Regulatory Board.
The DoTr Free Ride for Health Workers Program is being implemented by the DoTr with the cooperation of the Office of the President, House of Representatives, Supreme Court, Office of the Solicitor General, Court of Appeals, Sandiganbayan, Departments of Public Works and Highways, Health, Interior and Local Government, Environment and Natural Resources, and Trade and Industry, Philippine National Police, Armed Forces of the Philippines, Commission on Audit, LTO, LTFRB, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority, Philippine Coast Guard and Inter-Agency Council for Traffic.
The government has partnered for this initiative with HM Transport, Diamond V8, Pascual Liner, Pamana Transport, Jasper Jean, Goldstar, Philtranco, UBE Express, DLTB, Genesis, Hi-Star, Thelman Transit, Ceres Transport, RRCG Transport, Jac Liner, Dagupan Bus, Star8, Megaworld Corp. (Citylink), Hino, Hyundai, uHop and Toyota Motor Philippines.
