- BY PAULA ANTOLIN @tribunephl_phau

After the QC government discovered the first UK variant patient sent by his agency at Riverside in Barangay Commonwealth, nine new first generation contact of the former migrant worker from the index case are being sought after testing positive for the new varus strain.

They include the male roommate, six staff of OYO 416 Lucky Hotel in Binondo, Grab Driver from Tondo, Manila, the welding customer while he was in the apartment in Quezon City, a resident of the OFW and his companion.

From the first batch of testing, nine of them were tested negative. They will all end the 14-day home quarantine even if the test turns negative.

On the second-generation contact, nine individuals were also identified as the housemates of the welding resident and in all, the general close contacts of the index case have reached 196.

Those numbers include two other passengers who boarded

the Grab driver who was riding in the index case.

Up to 342 individuals were within the 50-meter radius of the apartment where the index case was lodged, but others were considered third generation contacts so there was no need for a swab test.

The number of tests performed was 206. Eight of them had symptoms, and 198 had none.

Out of the 206 people tested, two of them tested positive after the swab test conducted on 11 February. Those who tested positive were a 36-year-old man from Riverside, Barangay Commonwealth.

He is asymptomatic, and has five housemates. Two of his colleagues have already taken the swab test, and the results have been negative.

His other three companions aged 8, 5 and 1 who underwent and was subjected for swab test on 15 February 2021 although they have no signs or symptoms.

The other patient was a 44-year-old woman from Riverside, Commonwealth. She was also Asymptomatic who had four housemates while they all tested and resulted negatively in the swab test.

Meanwhile all those who tested positive for the swab test were taken by BHERT/DRRMO to the HOPE Quarantine
