Moreno: Trust Covid-19 vaccine

- BY PAT SANTOS

Manila Mayor Isko Moreno is urging the city residents to get vaccinated and study very well the benefits of getting inoculated versus the disadvantages of declining the vaccine.

“I can’t blame you for being affected by the previous undesirable news about the vaccine, but remember, let us be practical. I encourage each and every one for the simple reason that anything above zero is positive,” Moreno said.

The mayor cited that the benefits of getting vaccinated far outweigh the losses, adding that he himself will guarantee that only the vaccines that have been duly certified as safe by local health authorities, like the Food and Drug Administration, will be used and will be given for free.

“Which is more important, protection or lifetime apprehension,” Moreno said in Filipino.

Remember, let us be practical. I encourage each and every one for the simple reason that anything above zero is positive.

“In just a matter of time, we will have it (vaccine). It is not a guarantee that we can never be infected with Covid anymore, but we will have immunity and we will never part of those who are considered as severe cases,” he added.

The mayor also expressed belief that instead of avoiding the risks, it would be more beneficial to manage them instead, as he stressed the need to begin moving forward with our lives but safely, keeping the minimum health protocols in mind and practicing them constantly.

The mayor has called on anew the residents who have not registered yet for the free vaccination to sign up thru www.covid19vaccine.com, saying that being registered does not mean that one can no longer change his mind.

Meanwhile, Manila vice mayor Honey Lacuna has said that so far, a total of 676,461 individuals have already expressed interest in getting vaccinated as they already registered for the city’s Covid-19 vaccination program.

She said the figures came from a report provided by Manila Health Department head Dr. Arnold “Poks” Pangan, who is handling the creation of the masterlist of priority groups through registration of individuals interested in getting inoculated for free.
