Too early for politics, Go says

Thank you for your trust. But I wish to continue serving under the mandate you have given me. That is my promise.

Senator Christopher “Bong” Go has expressed gratitude to Filipinos urging him to seek a higher government position in the 2022 national elections.

The senator, however, stressed that it is too early to talk about politics during the pandemic as he is focused on his mandate as lawmaker and his continuing service to Filipinos.

“Thank you for your trust. But I wish to continue serving under the mandate you have given me. That is my promise,” Go said after personally leading the distribution of various assistances to fisherfolks in the Island Garden City of Samal, Davao del Norte last Thursday, where he assisted over 300 beneficiaries.

Stressing that the focus should be on addressing the issues brought about by the pandemic and other crisis situations, Go said that the country will have “no politics to talk about” if the country does not recover from it.

“I don’t want to talk yet of politics. It’s too early for that. What is important is we recover from this pandemic the sooner we can,” he said.

Go downplayed calls urging him to become Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte’s running mate should the former decide to run for a national office.

He said the president’s daughter is very much qualified to run for the office. He also expressed his support for her should she decide to run.

“If she decides to run, we will give full support. She is stricter than President Duterte. But as I’ve said, it’s too early to talk of politics,” he said.
