Bongbong won’t go toe to toe with Sara

- BY ALVIN MURCIA @tribunephl_alvi

The camp of Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. categorically said that come election time in 2022, they will not cross paths with Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte

in the event she runs for president.

Marcos Jr.’s lawyer, Vic Rodriguez, declared in a zoom meeting of the National Press Club’s Ulat sa Bayan that it will not happen (Marcos versus Sara) because their families are tightly knit.

“It will not reach that point as the family of both Sara and Bongbong are tightly knit,” Rodriguez said.

The question was asked after Rodriguez confirmed that they are already preparing for the 2022 elections though he did not specify what position Bongbong will seek in next year’s polls.

Rodriguez said they are still awaiting the copy of the Supreme Court (SC) decision that junked their electoral petition against Vice President Leni Robredo.

He said they have no debate about it because it is a15-zero decision by the SC magistrates but they just wanted to know if the third cause of action was also included in the said ruling.

They also wanted to know what was the reason for the dismissal and if the third cause of action was not included, if will still matter since the elections are forthcoming.

In the event the third cause of action was not included the annulment will take only six months. “For us there is no meaning, we are just prudent and cautious kung kasama ba yung annulment,” Rodriguez added.

But definitely, Rodriguez said their timeline for running started on 1 January 2021 but they are still evaluating what position Marcos will be running for come election time.

“We will call a press conference when the time comes,” Rodriguez said.
