Cubao churches offered vaccination sites
The vaccination will not be held inside the church, but only at the parish halls and at their gardens
The Diocese of Cubao has identified three big parishes under its jurisdiction that may serve as vaccination sites for the vaccine rollout of the Quezon City (QC) local government.
Parishes that have met the requirements laid down by the Department of Health as inoculation sites are Our Lady of Pentecost Parish, the Santa Maria Della Strada Parish and the Cathedral of Cubao.
Vicar General Fr. Steve Zabala said, “Based on our meeting with the QC Health, the parishes should have a good WiFi connection and good ventilation to be qualified as inoculation sites.”
Zabala said the vaccination will not be held inside the church, but only at the parish halls and at their gardens.
QC officials expressed their gratitude to Bishop Honesto Ongtioco “for opening their churches in support of the city’s vaccination plan.”
The parishes will be in addition to the 24 vaccination sites that had already been identified by the city.
The Diocese of Novaliches earlier also offered its parishes to serve as inoculation sites.
The local government is also finalizing discussions with the Ateneo de Manila University management after it expressed willingness to have its facilities used as a vaccination site.
“We welcome this help coming from our churches, schools and even the private sector. They have been the city’s force multiplier even from the start of our battle against Covid-19,” city officials said.
