Yorme open to getting China-made jab
You have the right to be choosy. You can wait for the vaccine that you prefer. But for me, if it has an EUA then we will use it
Manila Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso has expressed willingness to be vaccinated with the Sinovac vaccine as long as it receives approval from the Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) and Emergency Use Authorization from licensing agencies of the national government.
The mayor made the announcement to the members of the Manila City Council, led by Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan, to urge the public to trust government effort to protect the public from the dreaded Covid-19 virus.
He met with the City Council to personally inform its members of the readiness of the city government in the rollout of the first vaccine available in the city.
This came just moments after the FDA announced it had already granted emergency approval for the Sinovac vaccine.
During yesterday’s flag-raising ceremony, Domagoso said, “We will use whatever vaccine is certified and given an EUA by the FDA. You have the right to be choosy. You can wait for the vaccine that you prefer. But for me, if it has an EUA then we will use it.”
The Manila local government issued an advance payment for the purchase of some 800,000 doses of vaccine in an effort to be ahead in the delivery of the much-awaited anti-Covid-19 serum.
“Everything has been arranged. We are just waiting for the vaccines, from simulation to organized vaccination, to cold storage and cold container transportation and the assigned venue, plus all the manpower to start the vaccination process.” Domagoso said.
