Hard work, not skills, needed to become a star
We are ambitious. We never get contented. If we do something now, the next performance should always be better
For aspiring actors, diligence is more important than skills, said Rayhan Carlos, head of training at ABS-CBN’s talent management arm Star Magic.
“Stars are born and made. If you have the passion, diligence and hard work, you’ll become a great actor,” Carlos pointed out at the video conference for
Bida Star Gandang Naturally Fresh — an online talent search mounted by Star Magic’s sub-unit
Star Hunt.
The search for a new generation of stars comes in three phases: Auditions that
started 1 February; ongoing qualifying round; and the competition proper on 3 March.
Bida Star GNF will be hosted by Star Hunt alumni Karina Baustista and Aljon Mendoza, collectively known as KarJon.
Aspirants will compete on the online platform Kumu.
The winner will receive P50,000 in cash, a contract to star in an ABS-CBN digital show, and an endorsement deal with Eskinol.

Kumu updates are supervised by Ashley del Mundo and Tan Roncal.
The four hosts will also serve as inspiration to the contestants since they went through the same route in pursuit of their respective showbiz careers.
Mendoza said everything they experienced, especially the difficulties starting from auditions to the final stages of the selection process, was all worth it.
Bautista waxed sentimental: “Before, our dreams were too far-fetched, but now, it’s a reality.”
While KarJon is one of the celebrity tandems on social media, they don’t see themselves as successful yet.
